Volunteer Managers celebrated in Melville

This week the City of Melville’s Volunteer Resource Centre (MVRC) celebrated International Volunteer Managers Day with an inspiring self-care session for the City’s volunteer managers run by award-winning communication specialist and an emotional intelligence coach Rachel Green.

City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said celebrating the amazing work of the City’s volunteer managers was an opportunity to thank them for all their hard work, dedication and ongoing contribution towards improving the wellbeing of Melville’s community.

“We thought the perfect way to thank our wonderful volunteers and celebrate their achievements would be to give them some time out of their very own to refocus and reenergize, as well as have some fun,” Mayor Aubrey said.

“Behind every volunteer across the globe lies an equally dedicated group of individuals and agencies responsible for the coordination, support, training, administration and recruitment of those volunteers who should all be recognised as skilled professionals adept at taking their passion and turning it into effective action.

“We are so lucky and thankful to have all our volunteers here in the City of Melville -  Happy International Volunteer Managers Week! “

The MVRC is an initiative of the City of Melville supported through funding from the Department for Local Government and Communities and provides a central point for volunteering enquiries from potential volunteers and a support resource for over 200 community organisations that involve volunteers.

The Centre maintains a register of the many diverse and interesting volunteering positions available across the City of Melville, with a focus on making it easy for people to access information about volunteering, volunteering positions and community organisations all in one visit.

MVRC services include:

  • Connecting locals with volunteering resources
  • Providing resources and support to potential volunteers
  • Providing information, support and resources to Volunteer Coordinators and groups involving volunteers
  • Increasing the profile of volunteering across the community
  • Supporting volunteer recognition events.
