Road works to commence on Reynolds Road

The City wishes to notify the public that road works will commence on Reynolds Road, from Bombard Street to Crest Avenue, on Monday, 4 of December 2017, with completion scheduled by Thursday, 15 February 2018.

The works have been prioritised as essential to address the significant cracking of the wearing course which must be replaced to prevent structural failure of the pavement layer.

Black asphalt will replace the wearing course in the driving lanes, with red asphalt used in the bicycle lanes to provide a clear, visual route for cyclists.  A number of civil upgrades will also be made during the process to improve the current infrastructure.

To minimise disruption to the public, asphalt and profiling works will be carried out in sections, commencing at Bombard Street in early December and advancing to Crest Avenue. Motorists are asked to reduce their speed along the route and follow the detours signage.

Works will be carried out in three stages:

  • 4 to 12 December 2017 - Profiling and asphalting of the bottom layer
  • 13 December 2017 to 7 February 2018 - Civil works
  • 8 February 2018 to 15 February 2018 - Asphalting of the top layer

All works will be carried out during working daylight hours to avoid any potential noise related complaints with night works.

The City has engaged with the Public Transport Authority to ensure buses are still able to travel through the works area without disruption.
