Nominations called for Outstanding Citizens

Nominations are now open for the 2017 City of Melville Mayor's Valued Citizen Award, Mayor’s Youth Citizenship Award and the 2018 Australia Day Awards, recognising volunteers, individuals and groups for their outstanding contribution to the Melville community.

City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey encourages the community to nominate a worthy recipient by completing an online nomination at by Friday, 20 October 2017.

“Each year the Mayor's Valued Citizen Award recognises the exceptional contribution of long serving volunteers in the community who have dedicated their time to an unpaid role for ten years or more,” said Mayor Aubrey.

“If you know someone who has contributed to the community in this way, we ask you to encourage the president of their organisation to nominate them for this prestigious award.”

“Younger members of the City are also recognised with the Mayor’s Youth Citizenship Award, school principals and fellow students are encouraged to nominate a deserving student who has gone above and beyond to contribute to their school or community.”

“These awards acknowledge the tireless commitment of volunteers who give their time selflessly for the benefit of others; they are a wonderful opportunity for us to thank those individuals and recognise their significant value in our community,” said Mayor Aubrey.

Winners of both the Mayor's Valued Citizen and Youth Citizenship Awards will be invited to a volunteer recognition event at Wireless Hill Park on Friday, 10 November 2017 to receive their award.

Nominations are also open for the prestigious 2018 Australia Day Awards, with categories for Citizen of the Year, Youth Citizen of the Year and Community Group of the Year. All nominations for the Mayor’s Youth Citizenship Award will automatically be included in the 2018 Australia Day Awards - Young Citizen of the Year Award.

Winners of the Premier’s Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards will be officially recognised at the Australia Day Active Citizenship Breakfast Ceremony on Friday, 26 January 2018. The winners will receive $400 to donate to their community group or chosen charity, while their nominators will each receive a $100 for the same purpose.
