Majestic Boardwalk Closed for Restorations Works
Majestic Boardwalk at Dundas Point in Applecross will temporarily close to the public for essential repair and restoration works between Monday, 17 October 2016 to 18 January 2017.
During the works period, a detour via Fraser Road will provide an alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists connecting Jeff Joseph Reserve and Melville Beach Road.
City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the works were critical to maintain the safety of the boardwalk and could only be carried out during the low tide season.
“Majestic Boardwalk is popular with walkers and cyclists alike and while the temporary closure may cause some inconvenience, it will provide a better walking and riding surface for all users,” said Mayor Aubrey.
The works include the complete removal of the remaining timber section of the boardwalk and full reconstruction of its supporting structure including columns, steel beams and replacement of timber decking with recycled plastic decking.
Access along the foreshore at the end of Melville Beach Road is possible as far as Majestic Close with access to Majestic Close via steps only.
