Hundreds of Garage Sales happening in Melville

It’s not too late to register your sale or join the hordes of shoppers treasure hunting on Saturday, 22 October 2016 at Australia’s biggest Garage Sale.

Help lead the way by making this year’s sale the biggest and best yet. With over 141 sales already registered the City of Melville is currently second in Western Australia for registered sales.

City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the event is a great way to dispose of unwanted items, embrace sustainability, meet your neighbours and new friends, while also raising money.

“The community are spoilt for shopping choices this year, I’ve already jumped online and planned out my treasure trail with my granddaughter,” Mayor Aubrey said.

“There are loads of sales in each suburb, all with a variety of items for sale, and with the large group sales everyone is spoilt for choice. You could also pick up some treasures of your own!”

The group sales are listed below:

  • Brentwood Bargain Bazaar (Brentwood Primary School) 2 Dawson Road, Brentwood
  • Paperdolli Vintage & Recycle Sister Collab, 4 West Crescent, Bicton

“For those that would rather give the bustle of the larger group sales a miss, I would recommend jumping onto the Garage Sale Trail website and finding individual sales in your neighbourhood, or taking a family cycle along a previously planned shopping route,” Mayor Aubrey said.

“The City offers Friendly Neighbourhoods Grants of up to $250 to the community to help with events such as this. See if you are eligible to apply for funds to put towards promotion, catering, music or any other activities on the day! Or why not make the day a fun event and host a street party with your neighbours.”
