Harmony Week Movie Night
The City of Melville in partnership with the Bull Creek Leeming Scout Group is hosting a free multicultural event on Friday, 16 March 2018 as part of its annual Harmony Week celebrations.
Attractions include a fleet of food trucks cooking up culinary delights from around the globe, multicultural performances from local community groups, and a screening of recent Disney hit, Moana.
City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the event was the perfect way for the City to celebrate Harmony Week and cultural diversity within the City of Melville.
“The City of Melville has a very culturally diverse community with more than 34% of residents born overseas and close to 20% speaking a language other than English at home,” Mayor Aubrey said.
“We wanted to celebrate this rich diversity with a fun, family-friendly and accessible event that gives people the opportunity to explore the rich, cultural heritage of our community.
“What we’ve put together promises to be a fun night with performances from local Chinese, Indian, Sri Lankan and Japanese groups before the main attraction, a special screening of Disney movie Moana.
“Bring your blankets, bean bags and most importantly, your appetite as there will be plenty of food for sale from food trucks specialising in delicious Jamaican, Japanese, French and Indian cuisine,” Mayor Aubrey said.
The event will be held from 5.30pm to 8.45pm at Bob Gordon Reserve located at Benningfield Road, Bull Creek. Plenty of free parking is available at the Reserve.
The City of Melville is also running a photo competition until Friday, 9 March 2018 as part of its Harmony Week celebrations.
