City announces winner of first Instagram competition #furbabyrego2016
The lucky winner of the City of Melville’s first Instagram competition has been announced; the Cat and Dog Registrations competition winner won a prize of a $100 City Farmers gift voucher.
The competition aimed to remind and encourage cat and dog owners to register or renew their pets’ registration by 1 November 2016. To enter the competition, the public were asked to upload their favourite photo of their pets to Instagram with the hashtags #furbabyrego2016 and #melvillecity.
Winner, Shane Allchurch and his fluffy feline friend Bobby, collected their $100 voucher from City Farmers Store Manager, Wally, at 498a Marmion Street, Booragoon on Monday, 21 November 2016.
City of Melville Deputy Mayor Rebecca Aubrey said there was an overwhelming amount of entrants into the #furbaby competition and choosing a winner out of all the great entries was a tough job.
“Out of all of the great photographs we received from the community, Bobby the cat’s image really stood out – Bobby looked very cute and content in a baby bassinette,” said Deputy Mayor Aubrey.
“Mr Allchurch, was a truly deserving winner of the competition having adopted Bobby from Cat Haven, as well as registering their pet cat with the City, showing true signs of responsible pet ownership, congratulations Shane, his partner Franzi and, of course, Bobby.”
“With the Christmas season coming up, pets are often a common gift – just remember, where possible to ‘adopt not shop’ and ensure your new puppy, dog, kitten or cat is booked in to the vet to be fitted for a microchip and then register them with the City.”
