Art Awards 2017 Call for Entries

The City of Melville is once again calling for entries for its 2017 Art Awards from Monday, 1 May until the official closing date of Friday, 21 July 2017, with the first 250 registrations accepted.

This year marks the 41st annual Art Awards with the exhibition running from Saturday, 26 August to Sunday, 3 September 2017 at the City of Melville’s Civic Centre in Booragoon.
 
City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the Art Awards always attracted a high volume of entries and encouraged Western Australian artists to register early.  
 
“The City’s Art Awards exhibition is a wonderful showcase of the talents of our diverse creative community and I encourage seasoned artists, emerging artists and art students to submit their entry early to avoid disappointment,” Mayor Aubrey said. 
 
“The exhibition has become a jewel in the City’s cultural calendar. It not only provides artists a wonderful opportunity to exhibit their work but also offers the community a chance to view the works of 250 creative minds under the one roof and purchase artworks for sale.”
 
A total prize pool of $14,000 includes:
 
$4,000 First Prize Acquisitive
$1,500 Painting
$1,500 Work on Paper
$1,500 3D/Sculpture/Textile
$1,000 City of Melville Resident
$1,000 People’s Choice
$500 Youth 
Six $500 Judges Highly Commended prizes.
 
The Art Awards are open to Western Australian artists including tertiary art students, secondary school students and City of Melville residents.
