Your library card gives you streaming access to a large collection of indie films, classic cinema, festival, educational documentaries, and movies

Kanopy is a video streaming platform for library members. Watch online or through an app. Browse and view over 28,000 films and documentaries from top suppliers, including the BBC, Criterion Collection, Ronin Films, Madman Entertainment.

Once selected, each film may be viewed, paused, finished and rewatched over a 72 hour period before requesting again. Once you are signed in you can view up to 4 films or documentaries within a one month loan period. These are updated on the 1st of every month.

Getting started:

  • Already a City of Melville Libraries member?
Use the "Sign Up" link on the Kanopy website to register your details and add your library card number.
  • Not yet a member?
Join online then visit any of our five branches to collect your library card.

Please note: Video streaming services such as Kanopy download data to your device so this may impact on your data quota/allowance. If you are using the Kanopy app, there is advice available through the help centre on how to change the settings to reduce data consumption when watching Kanopy videos. Technical information about the quality of the streaming videos is also available.
