TriActive Program and Upcoming Endurance events

In partnership with Triathlon WA, the TriActive program is a brand new, gym based triathlon course that will run at LeisureFit Booragoon.  The course begins on 7 February 2017 and runs for 4 weeks, which involves 2 x 45 minute training sessions and is ideal for anyone looking to increasing their fitness and/or are interested in triathlon. So, what's different to any other course?  All bike sessions are on spin bikes. So, no need for helmets or even bikes and no fighting with traffic on the road.  All swim sessions are in the pool, so no wetsuits and no waves.  Run sessions are on the oval attached to the centre, so all sessions are in the same location. The program is delivered by Triathlon Australia accredited coaches who are experts at catering for every individual. So, it doesn't matter whether you are a gym junkie or have never set foot in a gym, you will be challenged to take your fitness to the next level.

TRAINING DAYS

Tuesday 6.30pm - 7.15pm (Dry session Cycle or Track Run)

Wednesday 6.30pm – 7.15pm (Swim session in 25m Dive Pool)

ROTTO CHANNEL SWIM

Sports Coach Brian Kempson - Brian has over 20 years’ experience and has completed the Rotto Channel swim challenge in 2003 and 2004. He has coached over 12 solos and 1 double solo as well as dozens of team and duo members. Brian works with his swimmers to ensure they are both physically and mentally prepared.

Brian’s top tips for Rotto Channel Swim success:

  • Train consistently each week, building up speed and endurance.
  • Prepare mentally and overcome fear of open water swimming.  Brian can help ease and reduce this fear and get participants used to sea conditions, temperature, current and waves.
  • Train and prepare yourself mentally.  During training it’s 80% physical and only 20% mental, however on the day its more like 50/50.
  • Brian’s secret to Rotto Channel swim success – Learn to swim and eat – the easiest way is to float on your back in the water and then eat.
