The City of Melville hosts an annual Art Awards and has been doing so for 40 years. In 2017 the Awards will be held in August.

2017 Art Awards

Online registration will open on Monday 1 May 2017. Visit our Artist Registration on Eventbrite to register. Your registration details can be edited up to the closing date, 21 July 2017.

IMPORTANT DATES

Entries open: 1 May to 21 July 2017 (Only the first 250 entries will be accepted.)

Artwork to be delivered: Saturday 19 August, 9am - 12noon.

Unsold artwork to be collected: Sunday 3 September, 2-4pm.

Exhibition Opening and Awards: Friday 25 August and 6:30pm.

Exhibition and Sale: 26 August to 3 September 2017.

FAQs

When is the Melville Art Awards Exhibition? The exhibition will run from Saturday 26 August to Sunday 3 September 2017.

How many entries are you accepting this year? The first 250 entries will be accepted and exhibited. Entries will close after this number is reached, or on 21 July 2017.

Where do I submit the image of my work? No image is required, just your registration and payment.

How do I enter this year? Entries will be directed through this page to an online booking system. You will be able to enter all of your information and pay your entry fee in one step.

What categories are in this year’s Awards? This years categories are:

  • Painting – includes acrylic, oil, mixed media and watercolour on canvas, paper or board.
  • Works on Paper – includes printmaking, pastel, pencil, charcoal, mixed media on paper.
  • 3D/Sculpture/Textiles – Includes framed and unframed textile works, and small scale sculpture.
  • Youth – includes artworks by artists aged 15 to 18 years.

Entries will automatically be entered into Judges’ Choice, People’s Choice, and into the City of Melville Resident Award where applicable.

I want to enter my photograph, what category do I choose? After a review of our categories and the distribution of entries, we will not be accepting photographs in 2017. There are a number of dedicated photographic prizes around WA.

What’s the maximum size my artwork can be? Artwork including frame cannot exceed 1m x 1m.

Can I deliver my artwork before the nominated delivery date? We have 250 artists to coordinate and we want to keep your artwork safe. For this reason we need to receive your artworks on Saturday 19 August. You can always share delivery/pick up duties with another artist.

Can I change the details of my artwork after I apply? You will be able to make changes and confirm your details when delivering your artwork.

My work fits into the 3d/Sculpture/Textile category. How will it be displayed? Please contact the arts officer to discuss the requirements for your work prior to registering.

Help! I don’t know how to apply online. You can visit one of the City’s libraries to get assistance with online forms. Otherwise contact the Arts Officer and we will provide you with a paper registration form.
