Canning Bridge Activity Centre Plan Amendment
The Western Australian Planning Commission approved the Canning Bridge Activity Centre Plan in April 2016. There have been modifications since the document was printed in 2015.

As at April 2016, Two (2) development applications have been approved through the Central Joint Development Approval Panel.
The Canning Bridge Activity Centre is recognised as a District Centre under the Western Australian Planning Commissions State Planning Policy 4.2: activity centres for Perth and Peel. The Centre is less than eight kilometres from the Perth CBD, with direct road, public transport, walking and cycling access. This Activity CentrePlan provides a guide to development of the Activity Centre It is proposed that the area will comprise a mix of residential, civic, office, retail and entertainment uses against the backdrop of the Swan and Canning Rivers and the adjacent open space. The Activity Centre comprises land within both the City of Melville and the City of South Perth and includes a substantial river footprint.
The Activity Centre Plan establishes a foundation for the future of the area including objectives and goals for its ongoing development, guidelines for the style of built form which is expected, and an implementation framework for orderly improvements to infrastructure and land over time.
Q1 – “The Kintail Quarter” will be the premier retail area and the driving force behind the employment opportunities in the Canning Bridge Activity Centre .
Q2 – “The Ogilvie Quarter” will be the business quarter and the playground of the western quarters.
The Activity Centre Plan has been prepared by the City of Melville and the City of South Perth as a joint initiative with the Western Australian Planning Commission, Department of Planning, Department of Transport, Public Transport Authority and Main Roads WA to progress long term planning for the Canning Bridge Activity Centre
The City of Melville Council approved the Canning Bridge Activity Centre Plan on 17 March 2015. The City of South Perth Council adopted the Activity Centre Plan in May 2015.
The Western Australian Planning Commission endorsed the Activity centre Plan in December 2015
