Councillor Matthew Woodall

Bull Creek - Leeming Ward

Background

I was born and raised in Attadale and have lived in the City of Melville all my life. I attended school at Wesley College and subsequently studied at the University of Western Australia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws. I met my fiancee at university and we both love living in the City of Melville.

Professional Experience

After graduating from university I completed a Diploma of Legal Practice and commenced practising as a lawyer. I now work for a large Western Australian law firm and specialise in corporate and commercial law. I have served on a committee of the Law Society of WA and recently became a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

I was elected to Council in 2015 and elected Deputy Mayor in 2017. I have served on a number of committees and community organisations including the Bull Creek Primary School Board, the Aviation Museum Heritage Committee, the Murdoch Precinct Strategic Group and the Metro Central Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP).

Interests

I am an active member of the local community through Rotary International and the Friends of Bull Creek Catchment. I am passionate about keeping rates low to limit the impact on residents, reducing congestion on our roads, and preserving and improving our parks and streetscapes.

In my free time I enjoy going to the beach, playing guitar and taking my dogs for walks. I also have strong interests in history and international relations.
