Councillor Duncan Macphail

Central Ward

Married with three children, I have lived in Bateman since 1987. As a local high school teacher, I have enjoyed the opportunities of community involvement through serving on the City of Melville Ratepayers Association, Neighourhood Watch and the Bateman PS and Applecross SHS P&C's.

Professional Experience

I hold the Australian Institute of Company Directors Diploma and have served on and chaired not-for-profit boards like WACOT and SWCDF. As a councillor and past Deputy Mayor, I have represented the interests of our local community through numerous committees and stakeholder groups including the South West Groups' Planning and Infrastructure Committee and the Local Government Association of WA. Our aim is to reduce traffic congestion and increase economic prosperity. My role has also allowed me to assist local community associations, religious groups and sporting clubs.

My varied interests and memberships include: sustainability gardening, plant propagation, swimming, tennis, reading and hockey.
