Councillor Cameron Schuster
Applecross Mt Pleasant Ward
Cameron has degree qualifications in forest science and business (accounting) and has worked in both the public and private sectors. He currently owns and operates his own consulting business working in the areas of business sustainability, environmental management, project approvals and elements of planning, and prior to that worked in the Wesfarmers Group for over 14 years.
Cameron has also held several Board roles in the not for profit sector and is currently a Director and Treasurer of Greening Australia (WA) and Chairperson of Nindethana Seed Services Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Greening Australia. Cameron worked with the Western Australian public sector for 22 years in a variety of research, management and senior leadership roles in forest and land management, fire operations, recreation, nature conservation, disability services and environmental protection and waste management. He then spent over 14 years in the Wesfarmers Group, initially with CSBP Limited at Kwinana as the Manager Environment and Manufacturing Support and more recently as the Sustainability Manager for Wesfarmers Limited. He now operates his own consultancy as described above.
Cameron has a long history of volunteering in various community organisations and sees the Council role as some extension of this. He is interested in international affairs and geo-politics and reads widely in this area, as well as military history. His other interests include sport, particularly Australian football (he is a member of the Essendon Football Club), family, politics and travel."
